01

A Japanese matcha shop in Sweden

Blachh sells Japanese matcha from eight brands, with the tools to make it and a few other things. The shop is based in Sweden and sells in Sweden and beyond. The owner is renaming the brand Blachh’co and wanted a shop that feels white, minimal and considered, not cute.

The job was to move the whole shop onto Shopify alone, design a new theme from the ground up, and get the products, languages and currencies ready to sell.

02

An old shop the owner couldn’t change

The old shop was a separate site a previous developer had built on top of Shopify, with several systems stitched together, and the owner had no access to its code or hosting. She couldn’t change a line of text or add a page herself.

The language and currency switches were hidden in the menu, product photos were heavy PNG and JPG files, the privacy and terms pages were broken, and the product pages said very little.

03

Different brands, one point of view

The home page opens on "Different brands. One point of view." with matcha powder curling like a wave into a bowl. It is warm white with black, a matcha green and a deep green for the story section, with Cormorant for headings and Jost for the text.

Below come a rolling strip of brands, the categories, the delivery promises, a matcha finder by brand, the shop’s story, its Instagram community, a three-step ritual made from the shop’s own clips, seals for all eight brands, and a look at its social feed.

04

All 52 products, set in order

Teas that were split into one product per size are now one product with a size choice. Every item carries its real brand, and every description is written in Swedish, English and Thai.

The matcha finder on the home page filters by brand in place, without loading a new page, and pre-order items say how long the wait is.

05

Three languages, three currencies

Swedish is the shop’s main language, with English at /en and Thai at /th. The language and currency switches, SEK, EUR and THB, sit in the header where they are always visible, and inside the menu on a phone.

Payments run through Shopify Payments and delivery through PostNord, both set up in the store.

06

Everything in the owner’s hands

With the whole shop on Shopify, the owner can edit text, add products and handle orders herself from the admin, without waiting on a developer, and she gets a guide to the back office.

Every product and collection page has its own title and description in each language, the policy pages work, and the old links are mapped to their new pages. If you want an online shop like this, see e-commerce website design.
